farm_storage_phone_supportGSS offers phone support to growers for 12 months. We endeavour to answer all questions and requests regarding grain storage via phone to growers.

Growers who either sign up for this service, or are entitled to it through signing up for one of the other services listed, may enquire about;

  • Rejected loads at end users
    • What are their options
    • Which is the best option for their situation
  • Strategies to dis-infest grain still in storage
  • Treatment rates
  • Fumigation rates
  • Fumigation frequency
  • Chemical type
    • Resistance issues
    • Market issues
    • Operator safety
  • Best safe practice for applying fumigants and chemicals
  • Advice on new grain storage

Private Storage Inspection

private_storagePrivate sites will need to comply with procedures designed by GSS for the site to use K-Obiol Combi (Deltamethrin)

Private grain storages can benefit from having GSS inspect the site and offer advice on pest control techniques

Benefits include;

  • Greatly reduced chance of infestation from old crop storage
  • Reduced costs generated from more efficient use of grain protectants and or fumigants
  • Correct industry load sampling techniques
  • Knowledge of pest control regulations according to your state

On Farm Storage Accreditation

farm_inspectionIn a world of constant changes, how do you stay abreast of best practice?

Our on farm accreditation can help you improve your grain storage techniques, reducing rejections & saving $$$ through efficiencies, best practice and correct chemical use

Benefits to the grower from the visit include;

  • Ability to use K-Obiol Combi (Deltamethrin) after accreditation is achieved. K-Obiol Combi is a rotational contact pesticide used in place of Methoprene IGR and Actellic.
  • Advice on storage facilities, ensuring they are at the same or better level of standards as compared to bulk handing companies
  • Advice on storage / commodity placement
  • Greatly reduced chance of infestation from old crop storage
  • Reduced costs generated from more efficient use of grain protectants and or fumigants
  • 12 months phone support to GSS in regards to grain storage
  • Knowledge of how to keep true running samples of grain stored in each bin
  • Advice on aeration times and pest control scheduling

Site and Bunker Design

site_bunker_designWith more than 12 years experience in the grain storage industry, GSS can help you design a site which maximizes land that you have. Whilst maintaining seamless traffic flow your site will run at an optimum unload rate, ensuring trucks are not left queuing and staff numbers are kept to a minimum.

Bunker placement is also important with many factors coming into play to ensure that losses are kept to a minimum

Fumigation Services and Training

Need to make a deadline? GSS can fumigate your grain and have it ready for markets in 5 days! (allowing 3 days for ventilation, may be quicker if aeration is installed)

We can also train you on how to fumigate your silos and bunkers effectively and with the least cost and hassle.

SIROFLO® Fumigation System Design

SIROFLO® was designed in the late 80’s by the CSIRO Stored Grain Research Laboratory.

SIROFLO® is designed for use in unsealed storages but is also suitable for sealed storages. It involves mixing a low concentration of phosphine gas from cylinders with an air stream. The air mixture is pumped into the base of the storage. The air stream produces a small amount of pressure which causes the gas to spread evenly through the entire grain mass. The main advantage of SIROFLO® is that it works on storages which are not fully sealed, saving $$ on sealing and modification costs.

SIROFLO® systems have been installed on sheds, steel silos and concrete silos.
